Films and TV shows like Vikings, Vikings:Valhalla, The Last Kingdom and The Northman have raised awareness of our pre-medieval history and mythology. This track is Dark Age drum and bass, primordial neofolk DnB referring to a being in Norse mythology. This is amplified history.

In Norse mythology, Gandálfr is a Dvergr (dwarf) and appears in the 'Tally of the Dwarves' within the poem Völuspá from the Poetic Edda, as well as in the Prose Edda. The name derives from the Old Norse words gandr (magic staff) and álfr (elf). He is therefore a protective spirit who wields a magical wand.
The name was also used for a Norse king in the Heimskringla.

In his fictional writings, JRR Tolkien named his wizard Gandalf after the Dvergr, but initially he had used the name for the head of the dwarf party in The Hobbit, later renamed Thorin Oakenshield.
